Lake Sugema Fish and Wildlife Management Area is approximately 4 miles
southwest of Keosauqua. A west side channel of this artificial lake occurs
under a bridge on Heather Avenue. It is on the Southern Iowa Drift Plain.
Ludwiaia peploides occurs as large emergent patches in the channel on both
sides of the bridge. It is much more common on the east side of the bridge.
Floating leaves are found on the side of the patches facing towards the middle
of the channel. Flowers appear to have 5 yellow petals. Ludwiaia peploides is
associated with Leersia orvzoides. Lemna minor and Phalaris arundinacea.
