Bottom of small valley without a stream, mostly in
cultivated fields.
One of the only species in unshaded bare clayey soil of 3-
year-old area where earth had been moved, with some
stunted Capsella bursa-pastoris, and unusual that it has not
been revegetated during this time. With many deer tracks
(site salted to attract deer?).
This the most common species, with no. 55446 V. arvensis
which is much less common but easily confused with it.
