Gaura parviflora Douglas
Guthrie County: T79N R30W Section 27 NE4 SW4 NW4 SW4
UTM (15T, NAD27): 388695 East, 4608287 North
A roadside prairie planting northeast of County Road P28 is approximately 7.5
miles north of Stuart and on the Southern Iowa Drift Plain. Gaura parviflora is
infrequent on a southwest-facing, moderate slope above a ditch next to the
road. It was probably accidently introduced with the prairie planting. There is a
lot of bare soil between individual Gaura parviflora genets and they have 1 to 5
ramets. The genets are in bud, bloom or have fruits. The corollas are white.
Gaura parviflora is associated with Bouteloua curtioendula. Chamaecrista
fasciculata. Elvmus canadensis. Phleum pratense and Schizachvrium
scoparium.
