Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of the "Estaçao Ecologica do Pau-Brasil" reserve, in Mun. Porto Seguro, Bahia. Using Wikimapia, found the location and the approximate boundaries of the Estaçao Ecologica do Pau-Brasil (verified this information by looking at maps provided in a management plan for the nearby RPPN VERACEL reserve found online; http://www.veracel.com.br/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=jDbV3CcwjHA%3D&tabid=246&mid=1061). Using Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps), measured a straight line from the NW corner to the SE corner of the reserve, and halved that distance to approximate the location of the geographic midpoint. Using Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs, found coordinates for this midpoint. Using Distance Measurement Tool again, determined the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates at the center of the reserve to the farthest extent of the reserve. Input coordinates, linear extent (3905.39 m), and measurement error (0.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to the Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Defined area).
