There is a specinen of this plaint in Walter’s Herbarium,
marked “ Silene anVirginiea,” evidently a type of his description,
which fits it exactly: In the Linnaean Herbarium there is also a
specimen of it marked Virginia, by Linnaeus, but pinned fast
to the ¿heet is another bearing a good specimen marked only
*• K,” indicating that it was received from Kalm, of the 5. Vir-
ginica of the description‘in Species Plantarum, 419, Linnaeus
