03309064 PLANTS OF THE CALIFORNIA ISLANDS Caryophyllaceae Silene antirrhina L. Limb of corolla pink on adaxial surface, brownish-red on abaxial surface; stems with dark brown glandular bands. Santa Barbara County: Santa Cruz Island. Ridge on E side of Willows Canyon, just inland from coastal bluffs. Locally abundant; more than 150 plants seen; Effacing slope just below top of ridge; San Onofre Breccia; Coastal Scrub. Elevation: 180 feet. Associated species: Rhus integrifolia, Artemisia californica, Phacelia viscida, Lupinus succulentus, Silene gallica, Camissonia, Orthacarpus, Astragalus, Mirabilis californica, Erodium cicutarium, Melilotus indicus, Daucus pusillus, Medicago polymorpha brevispina, Filago californica, Crassula connata, Bromus rubens, B. diandrus, Stipa pulchra.
