No. 8520, collected May 10, near Smith Creek, Santa Clara county, on the grade to die summit above Hall’s valley, eleva- tion about 2300 feet, growing in moist gravel along the roadside on a northerly slope. These specimens have broader leaves and more ovate, scarions margined calyx lobes than the plant figur- ed in the Illustrated Flora.
