PLANTS OF ECUADOR, SOUTH AMERICA Mi conia chionophila Naud. Det. by J. J. Wurdack Prostrate stems in Sphagnum mound under Puya. Leaves shiny, dark green above, lighter below, to 1.5 x 1 cm. Calyx green, hairy, with points of purplish color. Petals white. Stamens, style, stigma white. Slightly reddish under stigma. Edge of ciénaga (wet area). Also under shrubs of surrounding slopes, with larger leaves. Above level of road, between division of road to Loja and Paramos de Silván, 37 kms. south of Cuenca. Prov.
