Vegetation: tussock grass paramo on 30 - 40 cm deep black humic soil,
with Polylepis forest in small declivity.
Shrub, 1 - 2 m; leaves membranaceus, bullate, discolorous, dark green
glossy above, paler and dull below with the main veins pinkish;
pedicels and calyces green tinged pinkish red, petals white, filaments
white, anthers creamish yellow, style pink, globose stigma cream. In
Polylepis forest understorey. Very local.
