Jelks Preserve, ca. 1.7 kilometers (by air) south of US 75, 0.8 km (by air) east of North River Road and west of the Mayakka River. 27° 5.589' N: 82° 20.081' W (coordinates from hand-held GPS; accurate to within a radius of about 50 m) Moist depression free of woody vegetaion such as Serenoa . repens, Quercus virginiana and Q. spp (shrubs).
