    Dry thorn forest and scrub. Opuntia sp. cf. aurantiaca seen a little further into the valley.

    Stem-fragments of 1 year or more deep purplish, unliek adjacent typical O. pubescens, and 50% larger than normal - not yet in flower (O. pubescens in flower). Fruit sterile. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
