Habitat
Dry thorn scrub, with abundant Aacia furcatispina and Cnidosculus; between sharp-edged limestone blocks.

Description
to 40(-60) cm, branching near base or solitary, with 8-10 ribs. Flesh very dry and not at all mucilaginous. Some plants attacked by borers. Flowering before rains; floral remains dark magenta; young fruit dark green. Phenology of specimen: Sterile.

Duplictaes: K, LPB, USZ, BOLV. Conservation status (IUCN) probably VU D2; very abundant at this site with 100s of plants, but very local. Altitudinal range 2050-2450m
