Sori amphigenous, \-l mm. diam., slaty black, hemispherical, erumpent and soon naked, crowded or confluent, often surrounding and deforming the leaf. Teleutospores oblong, rather pale brown, constricted, the upper cell mostly narrowed into a bluntly pointed apex, the lower cell rounded at base or narrowed into the stout, slightly colored pedicel, which is 75-100/x long.
