    Secondary wallaba forest, with Aniba hypoglauca [Yellow silverballi], Lecythis corrugata [Wina], Swartzia sp. [Serebedan], Ormosia coutinhoi [Korokororo], Eperua falcata [Soft wallaba], Catostemma fragrans [Baromalli].

  • Description

    Tree, ca. 18 m high, dbh 30 cm. Base with root spurs; root spurs ca. 30 x 30 x 20 cm. Bark light brown, lenticellate, 1 mm thick. Lenticels 1-2 mm in diam., numerous, scored in somewhat irregular, vertical rows, sometimes united in a continuous, crack-like row, rows ca. 1 cm apart. Inner bark orange-brown, streaked light brown, ca. 5 mm thick, strongly aromatic, with exudate. Exudate clear, light brown but rapidly turning blue-green, somewhat sticky. Sapwood (very) light brown. Leaves shiny above, glaucous brown below. Infructescence branches grey to brown-glaucous; fruits green, rounded, diam. ca. 1 cm.
