PLANTS OF CALIFORNIA, USA Plagiobothrvs narishii I.M.Johnst. Boraginaceae Det.: S. R. Hill, (ILLS) 2001 Parish’s popcornflower. SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY 34° 27.510’ N. Lat. 116° 57.777’ W. Long. T. 4N, R. 1W, comer of Sect. 2, 3, 10, 11 Rabbit Springs, north side of Rabbit Springs Road, 0.9 mile west of California Route 247 (Barstow Road), 1 mile north of Lucerne Valley town center, and owned by the Roy Rodgers Estate; less diverse area of the springs. Elevation about 2875 feet. Dark peaty sand, wet, seepage slope, saturated with salts which encrust surface; ancient spring up welling forming raised dome deposit. Mojave Desert. Assemblage of desert springs species, including Deschampsia danthonioides, Distichlis spicata, Lepidium dictyotum, Puccinellia parishii, Hesperochiron californicus, and the exotics Schismus barbatus, Polypogon monspeliensis, Bromus spp. Locally common annual herb with trailing (prostrate) branches in wet flats below spring mound at margin of wash; flowers white with yellow center, erect, showy in NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN 03248502 masses, forming bright white patches, locally frequent.
