Pico Guacamaya, ridge extending E from peak. N10° 22’; W 67° 39’.
Above cloud forest. Not dense, canopy open, 6-12 m high with emergents to 20 m.
Few low herbs, Neurolepis pittieri common along ridge, tree ferns and palms
(Catoblastus prae-morsus) dominating the understorey, mosses and epiphytes
abundant. Poorly developed friable soil with peaty humic topsoil. 1775 m alt.
Climber. Leaves shiny, smooth both sides. Buds and pedicels pink. Rowers with 2
white petals flushed pink when young; many anthers, yellow.
