RANCHO SANTA ANA BOTANIC GARDEN Flora of the Liebre Mountains, Los Angeles County, California, U.S.A. Boraginaceae Heliotropium curassavicum L. var. oculatum (A.A.Heller) I.MJohnston Upper CIENAGA CANYON: South base of Liebre Mountain, just on the N side of the "Kelly Ranch" inholding (USFS map, 1958; "Knapp Ranch", Angeles Natl Forest map, 1982). Liebre Mountain 7.51 USGS Quadrangle. T7N R17W, SE/4 SW/4 SE/4 section 15. Elevation ca 3280-3340 feet Low, marshy meadow fed by a drainage off the S face of the mountain, and apparently by subsurface seepages. Sunny meadow dominated by Juncus mexicanus, Anemopsis californica, Urtica holosericea, Baccharis salicifolia, with chaparral shrubs and subshrubs on the adjacent low slopes. Herbaceous perennial with glaucous leaves; flowers milk- white; throat greenish-yellow aging dull purplish. Timothy S. Ross 8154 Steve Boyd 7 July 1994 03238595
