Almeda 1972 Province of Heredia: Wet pasture land and woods bordering a pre-montane rain forest, 5 km. down a jack-knife turn to the east, off of Highway 9, 3.3 km. north of Vara Blanca. Shrub about 1 m. tall, growing on de- caying tree stump. Calyx, pedicels, peduncles pistil, filaments, petals rose-red. Pollen white. Pubescence on stem & inflorenscence rose. Rare. James L.
