Kent County, West Greenwich, Big River Wildlife
Management area, 4.6 miles southwest of Coventry, 1.7
miles southeast of exit 6 off interstate 95. Sweet Pond. A
shallow basin formerly flooded until breach of dam in 2006.
Now a mat of Sphagnum moss on sandy substrate. Several
narrow, shallow drainage channels flowing north. Open
community dominated by herbaceous species, scattered
boulders. Abundant Eleocharis sp., Juncus sp.,
Rhynchospora sp., Cyperus sp. Rhexia Virginia, Spiraea
tomentosa, Vaccinium macrocarpon. Petals yellow.
