    United States of America. Utah. San Juan Co. Dark Canyon Wilderness, Horse Pasture Canyon, ca. 21 miles northwest of Blanding. Immediately southeast of FST 025 near rear of historic ranching structure.

    Growing beneath Artemisia tridentata. Mixed forb/shrub community at ponderosa pine forest margin; associated with Rosa woodsii, Quercus gambelii, Artemisia tridentata, Chrysothamnus nauseosus, Mahonia repens, Penstemon, Caastilleja linaiifolia, Allium geyeri, and Bouteloua. Canyon bottom, sandy soil.

    All other individuals in the immediate area had stems completely grazed by ungulates. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
