Boraginaceae Cryptantha microstachys (Greene ex A.Gray) Greene UPPER MONROE ROAD; ridgetop hillock on the divide between Persinger, Horse, and Little Dalton canyons; ca 850-930 m NW of Horse Canyon Saddle. Glendora 7.5' USGS quadrangle; T2N R9W, SE/4 SW/4 SW/4 and SW/4 SE/4 SW/4 section 34; elev ca 3360-3520 feet North side of hillock on mesic northerly and northwesterly slopes draining to Persinger Canyon. Mesic chaparral burned in May erf 1992 by Forest Service personnel in order to convert a broad swath into a weedy firebreak. Formerly with Heteromeles arbutifolia, Quercus wislizeni, Qu. berberidifolia, Cercocarpus betuloides, Lonicera subspicata johnstonii, Lepechinia fragrcms, Keckiella cordijblia, Garrya veatchii, etc. I returned to document some of the fire-followers before the area is completely converted to weeds. Locally common robust annuals on bum; corolla limb 0.8-1.0 mm broad; nutlet 1, narrowly lanceolate, glossy, light brown, 1.2-1.4 mm long, with groove closed. Timothy S. Ross 7161 16 May 1993 03223486
