Boraginaceae Cryptantha microstachys (Greene ex A.Gray) Greene Lower RED FOX CANYON near its confluence with Elizabeth Lake Canyon. Burnt Peak 7.5' USGS Quad. T6NR16W. Near 34°37'46"N 118031'53"W. Elevation ca 2320-2420 ft. Riparian elements along stream; chaparral elements on adjacent slopes. Locally common annual in moist sand at stream margin; corollas ca 1-1.5 mm diameter; fruiting calyx ca 2-2.5 mm long; nutlet laneolate, solitary, glossy, ca 1.6 mm long; style ca 1/2 as long as nutlet. Associated locally with Quercus agrifolia x Q. wislizeni, Artemisia douglasiana, Toxicodendron diversilobum, Platanus racemosa, Eriogonum fasciculatum, Lilium humboldtii ocellatum, Melica imperfecta, Elymus glaucus, Corethrogyne filaginifolia, etc. Timothy S.
