DAUBENY HERBARIUM (FHO) J UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD OXFORD UK FLORA OF MEXICO Schizolobium parahyba (Vellozo) Blake State: Veracruz Lat 19° 12'N Long 96° 51'W Alt: 1080m 3km W of Maria Oscura, Hwy 125 WSW from Puente Nacional to Huatusco, approx. 20km NE of Huatusco. Large tree with a long, more or less straight bole to 15m ht. and heavy i branching above with a flat-topped spreading crown; total ht. 25m. Bark initially smooth, green, becoming pale grey, inner bark green then pale creamy pink. Leaves very large to 2m length, 2 pinnae collected per specimen. Ripe pods, winged, mid to dark brown with a rough crazed surface and a papery straw brown endocarp, seeds dark olive green-brown. ^| Very abundant, probably cultivated as a shade tree over coffee with Inga and mango.
