In basalt cinder soil on gentle N-faclng slope with Pinus. Juniperus
& Ericameria. Taprooted annuals; phyllaries with + appressed
hairs to 0.9 mm long; inner phyllaries with acute-acuminate,
membranous tips; ray florets pistillate, with yellow ligules to 10
mm long; pappus of numerous, unequal capillary bristles, those
of the disc florets to 4.5 mm long.
