Mixed quartzite and limestone on W exposure. Dominates:
Ambrosia dumosa, Lepidium fremontii.
Shrub, 0.8m tall; proximal stems white, leafless, spine
tipped; distal stems white grading to green, sparsely leafy,
leaves -1cm, oblanceolate, glabrous; ray flower yellow, ray
coiled, shorter than tube, 3-lobed, pappus a ragged fringe,
3/4 as long as tube, minutely barbellate; disk flower longer
than corolla staminate, pappus of twisted capillary hairs,
minutely barbellate.
