Along F.S. Rd. # 28 ca. Vi mi S of junc. with Rd. # 2801 at Copeland Creek Bridge, ca. 0.4 mi
N of junc. with Rd. # 620, T26S R3E Sec. 31 SW 1/4 NW 1/16 NW 1/64 NW 1/256: NW of and
near center; site extends along about 60' of road and up the slope about 30'; elev. ca. 2075';
WSW facing, open, rocky roadside banks and rock outcrops near a small stream on map without
name and culvert; flat area at base to locally sheer areas, slope 0-90°, mostly 30-60°; especially
common on watercourse; bare rock and grass-forb areas. Local, abundant, and a dominant herb
here; alone or forming large clumps, these pure or mixed with R. califomica (another dominant
herb but in less wet places) with no apparent hybridization. Leaves weakly succulent; corollas
white, some (3359) bronze-pink outside when young; with a gold band in the tube/throat (top of
gold band ~ top of calyx) and 5 gold spots in upper throat alternating with and overlapping the
lobe bases-seen in PHOTOS. Another site ca. 0.2 mi S (3357).
Associates seen 4-27-76 with 3359: Romanzoffia califomica (3399), Crocidium multicaule,
Microsteris gracilis, Tonella tenella, Montia fontana, M. parvifolia, Saxifraga nuttallii (3384),
S. cf. integrifolia, Mimulus guttatus var. depauperatus, Delphinium sp., Trifolium oliganthum
(3385), Cardamirte oligosperma, Rubus ursinus, Potentilla cf. glandulosa, Plectritis congesta
(3386), Nemophila sp., Stellaria sp., Arctostaphylos sp. and Quercus garryana seen in photos

fragilis, Rorippa nasturium-aquaticum, seen 4-21-77 with 3359b: Anaphalis margaritacea.
