Slopes above/E of F.S. Rd. 1003-409 ca. 0.4 mi S of Beard Saddle (4 way junction), ca. 1.5 mi
from Rd. 1003 junc.; T10S R5E Sec. 24 SE 1/4 SE 1/16 NE 1/64 E 1/128: ctr of E half of 128th;
site is ca. 0.2 mi N of sec. S border, about 75-200' above the road; elev. ca. 3225-3350'. Open,
W facing, grassy meadow with numerous rock outcrops on sharp slope; slope 0-90+°, mostly 60-
80°; parts still wet or moist with seepage (some plants flowering) or drying (fruiting); in about
125'x200+' of small forest opening, generally with little aggregation and easily overlooked in the
grassier places (fruiting); grassy places with normal soil, on rock outcrops with thin soil, especi-
ally in moss. Plants small, mostly 1-2" tall. Leaves succulent; flowers white, some bronze-pink
outside when young; with a gold band in tube/throat (top of gold band ~ top of calyx) and 5 gold
spots in upper throat alternating with and overlapping the lobe bases. PHOTOS.

Eriophyllum lanatum, Collinsia parviflora, Cryptanthe intermedia var. grandiflora (cf. 4512),
Microsteiis gracilis, Montia parvifolia, Castilleja hispida, Delphinium menziesii, Achillea mil-
lefolium, Dodocatheon pulchellum, Linanthus bicolor (4516), Trifolium oliganthum (4517), T.
microdon (4519), Allium crenulatum (4518), Orthocarpus attenuatus (4520), Cystopteris frag-
ilis, Lomatium utriculatum (4521), Collomia heterophylla, Lithophragma parviflora, Holodis-
cus discolor, Lotus micranthus, Selaginella cf. wallacei, Polygonum sp., Sambucus sp. Acer
macrophyllum and Pseudotsuga menziesii nearby.
