South side of road in grassy sandy field with
Eriogonum multiflorum, Schizachyrium
scoparium, Cnidoscolus and Opuntia.
Several erect stems to 2 meters tall; corms
elongate fusiform; roots extending beyond 25 cm
deep in very loose sand; bracts lavender-purple.
