    Flowers dull brown-maroon, foetid; plant with 3-15 stem, to 2 m tall, branching so that stems are parasol-like, the branches in upper portion nearly horizontal; stems soft, pith, 1.5-3 cm diameter at base; berries hanging, shiny black.
