Hydrophyllaceae
Phacelia brachyloba (Bentham) A.Gray
UPPER MONROE ROAD; ridgetop hillock on the divide
between Persinger, Horse, and Little Dalton canyons; ca
850-930 m NW of Horse Canyon Saddle. Glendora 7.51
USGS quadrangle; T2N R9W, SE/4 SW/4 SW/4 and
SW/4 SE/4 SW/4 section 34; elev ca 3360-3520 feet.
North side of hillock on mesic northerly and
northwesterly slopes draining to Persinger Canyon. Mesic
chaparral burned in May erf-1992 by Forest Service
personnel in order to convert a broad swath into a weedy
firebreak. Formerly with Heteromeles arbutifolia,
Quercus wislizerii, Qu. berberidifolia, Cercocarpus
betuloides, Lonicera subspicata johnstonii, Lepechinia
fragrans, Keckiella cordijblia, Garrya veatchii, etc. I
returned to document some of the fire-followers before
the area is completely converted to weeds.
Annual, occasional locally on bum; corolla throat
greenish yellow; limb pale lavender (usually white to pale
shell-pink).
