Sandy prairie on terrace several meters above Wisconsin
River floodplain and never flooded. Flat or old stabilized
dunes, with one active sand blow, with Aristida
tuberculosa, Solidago nemoralis, Tephrosia virginiana,
Monarda punctata, Phemeranthus rugospermus, Leptoloma
cognatum, Schizachyrium scoparium. The surrounding
scrubby woods with Quercus velutina, Pinus banksiana.
Small tree 5 m. tall, blown down in recent storm. Voucher
for wood specimen, Kw, Lw, MADw, MEXUw, RSAw.
ones all closed at this time, persisting for only a year or very
few years.
