Opening at edge of woods of Pinus banksiana, P. resinosa,
Populus tremuloides, on gentle slope; soil sandy.
Shrublets, with arching branches, to 1 m. high, 0.6 cm. in
diameter; bark with long longitudinal splits. Voucher for
wood specimens in Kw, Lw, MADw, RSAw. Fruit green.
