At entrance to floodplain forest, with Acer saccharinum, Populus
deltoides, Salix exigua, Ribes americanum, Sambucus canadensis,
Ilex verticillata.
Shrub, the stems to 2.5 m. tall, forming a clump with ca. 25 stems
of various sizes in a tight clump, the wood specimen from stem
2.6 cm. in diameter, ca. 7 years old, nearly the largest size before
the stems senesce and are replaced by younger ones. Voucher for
wood specimen, Kw, Lw, MADw, MEXUw. The year-old twigs
coppery and green, those of this year green. Fruit green.
