Extensive flat fields on sandy soil* with center-pivot
irrigation. Adjacent fields now with very different weed
floras (Cerastium semidecandrum, Arenaria serpyllifolia,
vs. Descurainia sophia), due to different histories ol
cultivation with Zea mays and Glycine max in the lást year
or two*
Abundant, the dominant weed in a 50 acre field, giving it a
yellow-green appearance. Cerastium semidecandrum (see
no. 56285), dominant in an adjacent field, seems to be
absent here.
