Adiantum Woods State Natural Area, ridgetop near N-
facing Wisconsin River bluff.
43°03’39”N, 90°54’00”W. alt. 347 m.

Brushy old ridgetop field, somewhat prairie-like, becoming
overgrown with Rhus glabra, rare Elaeagnus umbellata,
Cornus racemosa.
Shrub 3 m. tall, a single stem 3 cm. in diameter, but with
replacement stems from base, common in vicinity but
uncertain if clonal unlike C. racemosa here which forms
definite thickets and is nearly completely done flowering.
Voucher for wood specimens in Kw, Lw, MADw, RSAw.
Inflorescence erect; flowers musty-fragrant (12:00 noon,
sunny), white, the distal inflorescence branches the same
white color.
