Fabius Chute, channel of the Fabius River separating the mainland from Fabius Island in the Mississippi River. Mississippi River floodplain, disturbed areas around parking area. 39°51’37”N, 91°27’13”W. alt. 146 m. Ropy tangle on ground and fallen trunks, then climbing into and over trees; stem 5 cm. in diameter, but with thick, furrowed corky bark and the xylem cylinder only 3.2 cm. in diameter, drying very slowly. Voucher for wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw, MEXUw, RSAw. Begining to bloom, the flowers yellow-green, odorless (8:00 A.M., sunny). Coll.: M.
