BOTANICAL U.S.A. Anacardiaceae Toxicodendron vernix (L.) Kuntze det. M. Nee, 2016 WISCONSIN, Richland Co., 1.9 km. SE of Twin Bluffs, Sextonville Bog, between Hwy. 14 and old railroad (now the Pine River hiking/biking trail). 43°15’35”W, 90°18’02”W. alt. 213 m. T 9 N; R 2 E; NWMNEK sect. 18. Extensive marsh of Typha, Sparganium with scattered Alnus incana ssp. rugosa, and patches of Larix laricina surrounded by Toxicodendron vernix, but without Sphagnum or Ericaceae. Floodplain of Pine River but mostly isolated from influx of silt during floods. Shrub 3 m. tall, 3 cm. in diameter, ca. 15 years old; fresh sap pale orange, turning tarry black; undoubtedly this is the collection that gave me a severe “poison ivy” rash. Voucher for wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw, MEXUw. Petiole and leaf rachis red. Inflorescence nodding; fruit yellow-green. Coll.: M. Nee 63118 25 July 2016 Missouri Botanical Garden (MO) 03176505
