Habitat
Upper limit of subtropical evergreen forest to lower limit of temperate evergreen (Spruce) forest.

Description
A tree 50-60 ft. high with large leaves glabrous beneath or nearly so. Flowers white or cream with some crimson - possibly crimson throughout. K. a rim pubescent. C. glabrous 8-lobed. Anthers, 12 glabrous. Ovary silky hairy, white style green glabrous.
