Swale bordering sedge meadow and paralleling
highway embankment, filled with rank mostly
herbaceous sedge-meadow vegetation. Assoc.
Phalaris arundinacea & Carex trichocarpa co-
dominants, w/ Aster firmus, Carex lacustris,
Calystegia sepium, Cornus amomum,
Cirsium arvense, Chelone glabra, Eupatorium
maculatum, Hasteola suaveolens, Helenium
autumnale, Impatiens capensis, Muhlenbergia
mexicana, Onoclea sensibilis, Oxypolis rigidior,
Rumex orbiculatus, Solidago gigantea.
Uppermost edge of broad low terrace between the
Wisconsin River floodplain to the west and and low
hills to the east. Area supports a mixture of open to
wooded communities of wet soils, including a dry to
moist, unplowed but annually mowed prairie.
