Vegetation: bosque humedo and secondary scrub.
Climber to 3 m, clinging to tree trunks and with scandent terminal stems;
leaves dark green dull above,yellow-green glossy below, leaf sheaths
pale yellow-green; spathe pale yellowish green, spadix purple; young
fruits scarlet. Locally common.
