Thallus in erect, gelatinous strings, 4 mm. in diameter, 3 dm. in length,
light green in moving water, dark green in quiet places; cells spher-
ical, solitary or in twos, 7.5—17.5 mik. in diameter, in general 17 mik.
Attached to lake bottom. Abundant around the outside harbor rocks.
Grand Marais, Lake Superior, Minnesota.
