Habitat
Campo cerrado on upland (or occasionally forest). Open marsh or dense secondary forest along streams. This habitat: degraded campo cerrado. Well-scattered shrubs & small trees twisted by former fires, giving a savanna-like aspect. Ground cover of grassed Y herbs. Soil poor, reddish-brown fine sand with a little clay.
