Herbs to 3ft tall, locally common. Growing along the edge of
a dirt road in a floodplain forest on a higher alluvial terrace, in
silt/clay-loam (Limerick silt loam, 0-3% slopes; coarse-silty,
mixed, active, nonacid, mesic Fluvaquentic Endoaquepts).
Growing with Acer saccharinum, Alliaria petiolata, Arctium
sp., Arisaema triphyllum, Celastrus orbiculatus, Cinna
arundinacea (?), Cornus alternijlora, Euonymus alatus,
Fraxinuspensylvanica, Geum canadense, Impatiens sp.,
Laportea canadensis, Lonicera x bella, Onoclea sensibilis,
Phytolacca americana, Prunus serótina, P. virginiana, Rosa
multiflora, Rumex crispus, Sambucus canadensis, Staphylea
trifolia, Symphyotrichum cordifolium (= Aster cordifolius),
Tilia americana, Toxicodendron radicans, Ulmus americana
& Vitis labrusca. Near a large metal gate across the road,
along the edge of River Road (Mitch’s Way), about 0.2mi NE
of the intersection with Rt. 47 & around 200-300ft E. of the
Connecticut River. Hadley Township, Hampshire Co. Elev.
about 110ft. Approximate location: 42° 18' 25.6"N, 12° 35'
46.3"W. UTM 18 698124E, 4686672N (NAD83/WGS84).
