Topa Topa Mountains, southern flank of Tar Creek, ca. 1 air mile
southeast of confluence with Sespe Canyon, along an old dirt road
leading down to Sespe Canyon off of Squaw Flat Road, about the
base of hill 2582 at the boundary of the Sespe Condor Sanctuary.
Near 34°29’ 10’ ’N, 118°51 ’30”W. T5N R20W unsurveyed. Elev.
ca. 2400 ft.
Extensive area of bedded sandstones, highly deformed and forming
steep slopes with cliff-like outcrops. Soils at collection site
weathering to reddish clay loam.
Scrub vegetation of Adenostoma fasciculatum, Ceanothus
cuneatus, Cercocarpus betuloides, Eriogonum fasciculatum, Salvia
mellifera, Keckiella cordifolia, Fraxinus dipetala, etc.
Shrub, flowers purple. Occasional.
