Compact, shrubby herbs (except for inflorescences),
flowers white, locally common, growing in a hot, dry
prairie in the Columbia Hills, in loamy soil over basalt
(Stacker-Swalecreek-Horseflat complex, 2 to 15 percent
slopes; Stackler = Fine-loamy, mixed, superactive,
mesic Ultic Argixerolls; Swalecreek = Fine-loamy,
mixed, superactive, mesic Pachic Ultic Argixerolls;
Horseflat = Loamy-skeletal, mixed, superactive, mesic
Lithic Argixerolls). With Apocynum
androsaemifolium, Bromus spp. (plus other grass
genera), Centaurea solistitalis, Chrysothamnus sp.,
Lupinus sp. and Tragopogon dubius. Scenic overlook
area to the E. side of Rt. 97, 2.1mi N. of the intersection
with Rt. 14 & 4.7mi N. of the N. end of the Rt. 97
bridge over the Columbia River. Klickitat Co. Elev.
