rolling hills separating Camas Prairie from Wood River valley, NE of magic
Reservoir and ca. 16 air-km SW of Bellevue, in drainageway crossing HWY 20
at "Sheep Bridge" sign, mile post 174. Along edges of ephemerally wet
drainageway ecotonal to Artemisia /r/dewtato-bunchgrass, with Navarretia,
Rumex, Bromus tectorum, B. squarrosus. Ca. 100 plants from HWY conduit
continuing up drainage several hundred meters. Full sun. Rays bright yellow,
conspicuous. Achenes hairy. Most plants N of fence, heavily grazed. Coll. 7746B
is “intermediate-sized plants”; see also colls. A and C. Same population as
collections S. Popovich 6211,6221.
Elev: ca. 1487m Slope: 0-2% Aspect: S Ownership: Federal-BLM
Soil: loose, sandy, more fine-textured with depth.
