FIELD MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY Jl CULTIVATED PLANTS of U.S.A. Stachys affinis Bunge (=S. sieboldii Miq.) ILLINOIS: Cook Co., grown from tubers purchased from Oriental Seed Catalogue, Elmwood, Connecticut. "Chinese artichoke" Herbs, erect to sprawling; crushed foliage not minty fragrant, somewhat rank and unpleasant like Leonurus cardiaca but much less strong. Extensive rhizomes beginning to form white tubers; original tubers like white grubs, ca. 5-6 cm. long. Corollas never fully developing withering; apparently no seed produced. Coll.: M. Nee & T.
