Habitat: Rocky roadside hill in red sandstone.
Extremely dry soil. Pine/aspen forest.
Plants 12-15 cm tall; rays variable 6-10; most
plants with single stems, some in clumps of 2-3.
Leaves gray-green, lanceolate to linear.
Numerous sterile rosettes.
