Brainerd SISKIYOU COUNTY: ridge line west of Kangaroo Lake, near loop at end of road 40N15; UTM zone 10, 529792 east, 4575286 north, +/- 30 feet (NAD83). Elevation 6604 feet. Petals spreading, yellow, spreading, with red developing on midribs as they age. Anthers rosy or yellow-orange, becoming blackish. Common. Substrate peridotite rock outcrops and gravels in open conifer forest with scattered patches of Pinus contorta, Pinus monticola, Pinus jeffreyi, Abies concolor, with Quercus vaccinifolia. Associated species: Lewisia leeana, Phacelia dalesiana, Orthocarpus copelandii, Silene, Achillea millefolium, Sedum lanceolatum, Phlox diffusa, Danthonia unispicata, Castilleja arachnoidea, Luzula, Poa secunda, Thlaspi montanum, Arenaria, Anemone occidentalis, Arctostaphylos nevadensis, Zygadenus, Minuartia nuttallii ssp. gregaria, Elymus elymoides, Allium, Linum lewisii.
