STARR CO.: common in mostly herbaceous vegetation in
old root-plowed area on gravelly saline clay (Catarina soils)
on valley flat on gently rolling landscape underlain by
mudstones and claystones of the Catahoula and Frio
formations (undivided), between road and southern fenceline
just W of Cabin Hill on Las Estrellas Preserve, ca. 0.5 mi W
of R. M. 3167 at a point 7-8 roadmiles N of jet. US Rt. 83 at
W edge of Rio Grande City, at N26°28'15.r’,
W098°52,36.3”. Roma-Los Saenz Quadrangle. Elev. 290
ft.
Vegetation dominated by Pennisetum ciliare, Pappophorum vaginatum,
Isocoma coronopifolia, Sporobolus pyramidatus, Varilla texana,
Bouteloua trifida, Acacia famesiana. Other associated included Acacia
rigidula, A. schaffiieri, Gutierrezia texana, Opuntia leptocaulis, O.
lindheimeri, Prosopis reptans.
